Why Lafayette County Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Lafayette County sits within a regional footprint that supports a city population of 8,000 and a metro area population of 2.4+ million. With a steady annual growth rate of 2.50%, demand for housing, driveways, garden upgrades, and small commercial projects is increasing — creating more frequent need for bulk materials for both new construction and homeowner improvements. The local climate, with 228 sunny days and 33.90 inches of rain annually in hardiness zone 8b, allows for long planting seasons while also requiring careful attention to drainage and erosion control. That mix of sun and periodic heavy rain makes well-graded base materials, stable bedding mixes, durable surfacing aggregates, and quality topsoil and mulch important for lasting results. Sourcing materials locally helps match texture, color, and performance to Lafayette County’s soils and seasonal patterns, reducing rework and improving long-term outcomes.Popular Projects in Lafayette County This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Lafayette County Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Lafayette County.
Lafayette County's weather and local soils influence how materials perform. For example, wet soils and heavy rains favor more permeable, larger graded materials to improve drainage, while areas with freeze/thaw cycles need materials that compact well and resist washout. When choosing between gravel, sand, dirt, stone and other aggregates, consider how the material handles water, how it compacts, and how it will interact with your existing soil and slope.
Costs vary by material, distance, and load size, but rural deliveries in the Arkansas Region typically fall within a broad range. Expect per-ton prices to vary widely depending on the product, with whole-load (tri-axle) deliveries often quoted per load; order minimums and hauling distance are major factors. For an accurate price, check your zip code on our site or request a quote—Hello Gravel shows transparent pricing and will list any additional delivery or next-day fees.
Lafayette County is served by a mix of local quarries, pits, landscapers, and hauling contractors. Hello Gravel connects you directly to trusted local suppliers and contracted haulers in your zip code so you can see available materials and delivery options. If you prefer, contact our team with your zip code and project details and we will help identify suppliers that serve your area.
Plan deliveries for drier, milder periods when ground is stable—late spring through early fall is often best for most projects. Avoid scheduling heavy deliveries during extended rainy seasons or during freeze/thaw periods when access roads can be muddy and materials may not compact properly. Also allow time between delivery and planting if you are installing soil or planting beds so materials settle and any necessary adjustments can be made.
Some local roads and bridges may have weight limits, seasonal load restrictions, or permit requirements, especially on narrow or private roads. Before delivery, check with the Lafayette County road office or local municipality about any restrictions, and let Hello Gravel know about access limits so we can coordinate appropriate truck sizes. For long drives on private lanes or for deliveries near sensitive roads, permits or special routing may be necessary.
Performance depends on material size, shape, and placement more than brand. Coarser, angular materials generally shed water and resist movement better on slopes, while finer materials can absorb and hold moisture but may migrate during heavy storms. Combining proper grading, a geotextile fabric, and the right aggregate mix will give much better results for erosion control and drainage than material choice alone.
Typical lead times are at least 2 business days for standard delivery, with next-day options available for orders placed early (additional fees may apply). Availability can be tighter in busy seasons like spring and early summer or after severe weather events, and winter can cause delays due to quarry closures or road conditions. Place larger orders well in advance and check availability for specific materials in your zip code.
First calculate volume in cubic yards: area (ft^2) x depth (inches) / 324 = cubic yards. Convert cubic yards to tons using a rough factor of 1.2 to 1.6 tons per cubic yard depending on material density, and remember Hello Gravel has a minimum order of 3 tons. When in doubt, order a little extra (5-10 percent) to allow for compaction and grading, or use our material calculator for a tailored estimate.
Most aggregate and soil installations need occasional upkeep: topping up high-traffic driveways, regrading settled areas, cleaning out drainage channels, and checking for erosion after storms. Some materials compact and harden over time while others will loosen and require regular raking or replenishment. Plan for periodic inspections and simple maintenance every 1–3 years depending on use, local weather, and the material chosen.
Many suppliers and drivers can offer tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this service is not guaranteed and may incur an extra fee. Hello Gravel lets you request spreading at checkout, and drivers will assess whether it can be done safely on arrival; standard delivery is typically 2+ business days while next-day delivery may be available for orders placed before noon CST. Always note driveway access, obstacles, and any spreading requests when you place your order so haulers can prepare.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.
