Decomposed Granite
Known for its natural look, this compact, durable material drains well and holds up in high-traffic areas. Made from crushed and weathered granite down to a mix of fine gravel and sand—best for patios, paths, driveways, and landscape projects. Can range in color from light brown and tan to reddish and gray, depending on the natural stone color in the region.
Road Base
(Class 5 | ABC | Crusher Run) A mixture of crushed limestone or granite, gravel, and sand, ranging from 1 ½” in size down to fines (small particles). Commonly used for constructing roads, driveway bases, parking lots, and other paved and unpaved surfaces. Intended to be compacted, hence the inclusion of fines within the material to provide support and be resistant to erosion and shifting.

Frequently Asked Questions - Adelanto gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Adelanto.
In the Adelanto area, delivered gravel typically ranges from about $15 to $45 per ton depending on type (river rock, crushed stone, decorative), color, and local supply. Prices vary by season and by supplier, and Hello Gravel has a 3-ton minimum order for deliveries. For an exact price, check our site for quotes tied to your zip code and material choice.
A standard tri-axle dump truck load in this region usually carries 10 to 14 tons of gravel. At typical local prices, a full truckload can range roughly from $150 to $600 for the material alone, with delivery fees or special handling potentially adding to that total. For an accurate estimate, request a quote from Hello Gravel showing the material type, tonnage, and delivery date.
One ton equals 2,000 pounds, so whether it fits depends on your truck’s payload rating (found on the driver-side door jamb or owner’s manual). Many half-ton pickups have payloads under 2,000 pounds and therefore cannot safely carry a full ton; 3/4-ton or 1-ton trucks often can. When in doubt, check your payload rating or choose delivery by dump truck or smaller partial loads from Hello Gravel.
A typical tri-axle dump truck delivers about 7 to 10 cubic yards of gravel, which corresponds to roughly 10 to 14 tons depending on material density. Lighter materials and decorative rock can change both volume and weight, so the cubic yard and ton numbers will vary. Confirm the expected cubic yards and tons when you place your order so you get the coverage you need.
Collecting gravel or rocks depends on land ownership and local rules. You need permission from private landowners for removal, and public lands (city, county, state, or federal) have specific rules and may require permits or prohibit commercial collection. If you plan to collect material yourself, check local ordinances and contact the managing agency or landowner first to avoid fines.
Landscape and construction-grade gravel supplied for driveways and yards is very unlikely to contain gold or gem-quality stones—materials are sourced for consistency and function, not for valuable minerals. Gold and gems are generally found in specific placer or hard-rock locations, not in bulk aggregate sold by suppliers. If you suspect valuable material in a delivery, keep samples and contact a local mineralogist or rockhound club for evaluation.
Arizona is known for many rockhounding areas, but sites vary by region and access rules; near Adelanto you should look for organized pay-to-dig sites, state-approved collecting areas, or local rock and gem clubs that run field trips. Always confirm access rules and permits with the land manager (BLM, state parks, or private owners) and follow safety and collection guidelines. Joining a local club is a good way to learn legal spots and proper techniques.
Measure the length, width, and depth of the area to calculate cubic yards (or use Hello Gravel’s material calculator) and remember we have a 3-ton minimum order. For driveways, 3/4" to 1" crushed stone or road base are common choices; schedule delivery at least 2+ business days in advance or request next-day delivery before noon CST if available. Add notes in checkout about spread location and request tailgate spreading, but note drivers perform spreading at their discretion.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.
