Why Dateland Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Dateland is a small but growing community with a city population of 320 and ties to a larger metro area population of 2.6+ million. With steady development and a 2.00% annual growth rate, homeowners here are tackling more grading, drainage, and foundation projects than in years past. Dateland’s climate — about 228 sunny days per year, annual rainfall of 34.25 inches, and hardiness zone 8b — means outdoor projects move quickly but must account for seasonal rains and strong sun. That combination drives demand for reliable, low-settlement materials: good fill-dirt supports lawns, pads, raised beds, and backfill while minimizing future settling and erosion in this local environment. Fill-dirt is a practical match for Dateland because well-graded, low-organic fill-dirt compacts reliably under the region’s cycles of sun and rain. Properly selected fill-dirt helps prevent uneven settling after the 34.25 inches of annual rainfall and reduces erosion on sunny slopes. Hello Gravel connects homeowners with local suppliers who source regionally appropriate fill-dirt, offers clear quantity guidance, and schedules delivery so you get the right material on-site when you need it. Our platform simplifies ordering, coordinates local haulers, and provides expert guidance to help your project start on firm ground.Popular Projects in Dateland This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Dateland fill-dirt Delivery
Everything you need to know about fill-dirt delivery in Dateland.
Fill dirt is generally cheaper per ton than crushed gravel or rock, but it is not a substitute for a finished driveway surface. In Dateland's desert climate, fill dirt is good for raising grade or filling low spots, but you should use crushed rock or base gravel on top for drainage and vehicle traffic. Many homeowners use fill dirt for subgrade work, then add a gravel base and compact it for driveways.
Prices vary with local supply and hauling distance, but expect a delivered range roughly around $12 to $35 per ton in rural West Arizona locations like Dateland. Exact price depends on lot access, truck size, and whether a delivery fee or fuel surcharge applies. Contact our team for a firm quote for your zip code and order size.
Retail (small quantities) tends to cost more per ton than bulk orders; retail may run toward the higher end of local ranges while bulk pricing drops as order size increases. In Arizona you can often see retail rates roughly comparable to the $15-$40 per ton band and bulk discounts below that, but regional availability and seasonal demand change prices. For precise retail vs bulk pricing for your area, request a quote through our site.
A typical tri-axle dump truck in our network carries about 10–12 cubic yards (roughly 12–18 tons depending on moisture and density). Using per-ton or per-yard pricing, a delivered truckload might range from about $200 to $700, and any tailgate spreading is performed at the driver's discretion and may incur an extra fee (commonly $50–$150) if available. Ask for a delivery estimate and note spreading preferences at checkout so we can confirm options with the hauler.
A typical tri-axle dump holds about 10–12 cubic yards; larger end dumps hold 12–16 cubic yards. Because 1 cubic yard covers 324 square feet at 1 inch depth, you can estimate coverage: for example, one 12 yd3 load covers about 1,944 sq ft at 1 inch, about 648 sq ft at 3 inches, or about 324 sq ft at 6 inches. Tonnage varies with moisture and compaction, but plan roughly 1.1–1.4 tons per cubic yard for soils in this region.
For 1,000 sq ft the material volumes are about 9.3 yd3 at 3 inches, 18.5 yd3 at 6 inches, and 37 yd3 at 12 inches. Using a delivered-and-compacted estimate of roughly $20–$45 per cubic yard (including delivery and basic compaction labor when available), expect ballpark costs of $185–$840 for 3", $370–$1,665 for 6", and $740–$1,665+ for 12". These are estimates — get a custom quote since compaction, access, and local hauling affect final pricing.
Costs depend on the driveway length and desired base depth. For example, a 20 ft by 50 ft driveway at 6 inches requires about 45 yd3 of material; at $20–$45 per cubic yard delivered and compacted, that totals roughly $900–$2,025. Use our material calculator or contact our team with your exact width, length, and desired depth for a specific quote.
Hello Gravel minimum order is 3 tons. Standard delivery lead time is 2+ business days; next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Remote or very rural deliveries like Dateland may incur delivery or fuel surcharges and occasionally longer lead times; you will see any extra fees and the estimated arrival window during checkout.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion; this should be requested at checkout but is not guaranteed. Full grading and mechanical compaction are typically not included with a standard delivery and often require hiring local equipment or contractor; when available, additional spreading or small equipment services may carry extra fees. We can coordinate with local partners in many areas, so contact our sales team to discuss options and pricing.
Check with your county or local public works before ordering, especially for large fills or work near right-of-way, canals, or floodplains, because permits or erosion controls may be required. Also confirm site access: narrow driveways, overhead wires, and local road weight limits can affect whether a full-size dump truck can deliver. If you are unsure, contact our team and we can advise on common local issues and flag any special hauling requirements to the supplier.
Fill dirt is primarily subsoil used to raise grade, fill holes, or backfill foundations; it usually contains little organic matter and may include rock fragments. In Dateland's desert environment it is suitable for grading and structural fill but not for topsoil or planting — add a layer of topsoil if you plan to landscape. Because materials are regionally sourced, appearance and texture can vary; note any color or composition preferences in Order Notes.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.
