Why Paradise Valley Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Paradise Valley has a population of 15,110 and is growing at about 2.00% annually, set in a sunny, semi-arid environment with 228 sunny days per year and 34.25 inches of annual rainfall in hardiness zone 8b. That mix of steady growth and climate means homeowners here are doing more grading, foundation prep, and landscape rework to accommodate new construction and outdoor living spaces. Quality aggregates matter because they control drainage, reduce settling, and create stable bases for patios, driveways, and raised beds. For projects in Paradise Valley, homeowners look for locally sourced materials that match the native soil profile and perform well under strong sun, seasonal rains, and shifting ground conditions. Fill-dirt is a practical, cost-effective material for filling low spots, building berms, and creating a level base before final topsoil or hardscape installation—especially where drainage is a concern after seasonal rains. In Paradise Valley, a low-organic, well-graded fill-dirt helps limit long-term settling and supports compaction for stable results. Hello Gravel simplifies sourcing by connecting you with vetted local suppliers and professional dump-truck delivery, offering transparent pricing, scheduled delivery windows (standard 2+ business days), and an option for next-day delivery when available. We manage logistics so you receive consistent fill-dirt that reflects local geology and performs reliably on local projects.Popular Projects in Paradise Valley This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Paradise Valley fill-dirt Delivery
Everything you need to know about fill-dirt delivery in Paradise Valley.
To raise 1,000 sq ft by 2 inches you need about 6.2 cubic yards of fill dirt (1000 x 2/12 /27). We recommend ordering about 10% extra to allow for compaction and settling, so plan on roughly 7 cubic yards. Hello Gravel delivers in West Arizona (check your zip code for availability); our standard delivery time is 2+ business days with a next-day option if ordered before noon CST. Minimum order is 3 tons, so small jobs may need to meet that minimum or be combined with nearby work.
Prices vary by supplier, truck size, and availability, but typical delivered fill dirt in West Arizona often runs in the range of about $20 to $40 per cubic yard. A 10-yard load delivered in Paradise Valley commonly falls in the roughly $200 to $400 range, excluding any optional spreading or special access fees. For an exact price and to see if free delivery applies in your area, get a quote through our checkout or contact our team.
Fill dirt is a good choice to build up low spots and establish grade because it compacts well and is cost effective for creating volume. It is not a finished surface; for a durable walking area, driveway, or patio you should cap fill dirt with topsoil for planting or with a compacted base of crushed rock/crusher run for paving. If drainage or a structural base is required, gravel or crusher run may be a better final layer.
Settlement depends on how well the material is placed and compacted. In Paradise Valley's dry climate, properly compacted fills in thin lifts can be ready in a few days to a week for light landscaping or adding sod topsoil, but un-compacted lifts can settle for months. For patios, pavers, or structural work, compact in lifts with a plate compactor and allow time for testing and any additional compaction; for major fills consider waiting several weeks and/or using engineered fill.
Fill dirt can help regrade low spots to move water away from foundations, but it is not an engineered drainage solution on its own. For critical drainage areas, sloped transitions and a drainage layer of clean rock or engineered fill with proper subdrains are usually recommended. If you have chronic water issues near your home, consult a drainage professional and ask us about locally sourced materials that match your planned solution.
Hello Gravel coordinates delivery via local dump truck fleets; tailgate spreading may be available at the driver's discretion if requested at checkout, but it is not guaranteed. Compaction is not a standard service we provide; customers typically hire a local contractor or rent compaction equipment. If spreading or additional labor is available from the supplier in your area, we will list any applicable fees during checkout or on your quote.
Clear vegetation and remove top organic soils before bringing fill dirt, and always call 811 to mark underground utilities. Install solid edging where you want to contain material, and prepare a stable existing subgrade so new fill can be compacted in lifts. Do not rely on a weed barrier under large fills; remove organics instead, and plan to compact in 4-6 inch lifts for best results.
You should not put gravel directly on uncompacted fill dirt. For a driveway, compact the fill in lifts to create a stable subgrade, then add a 4 to 6 inch base of crushed rock or crusher run and compact that base before the final driving surface. Proper compaction and a crushed-rock base will prevent rutting and uneven settlement common in hot, dry climates like Paradise Valley.
Fill dirt we source in West Arizona typically consists of locally native soils — a mix of sands, silty clays, and small rock fragments — and reflects regional geology, so color and texture vary by supplier. Suppliers generally screen out large organics and construction debris, but small rocks and native soils are normal. If you need 'clean fill' or a specific gradation, request material notes in your order or ask our team for supplier specifications and testing options.
Covering 1,000 sq ft with 3 inches requires about 9.3 cubic yards (1000 x 3/12 /27). With typical West Arizona delivered prices of about $20 to $40 per cubic yard, material and delivery would fall near $185 to $370 for the dirt alone; add 10% extra for compaction and waste, so plan to order roughly 10.2 cubic yards. Compaction labor or equipment rental is extra and varies by provider; contact our team for a detailed quote including delivery and local compaction options.
