Gravel: Durable Drainage For Draper Landscapes • Choose Next-Day Gravel Delivery Options
Decomposed Granite
Known for its natural look, this compact, durable material drains well and holds up in high-traffic areas. Made from crushed and weathered granite down to a mix of fine gravel and sand—best for patios, paths, driveways, and landscape projects. Can range in color from light brown and tan to reddish and gray, depending on the natural stone color in the region.
Road Base
(Class 5 | ABC | Crusher Run) A mixture of crushed limestone or granite, gravel, and sand, ranging from 1 ½” in size down to fines (small particles). Commonly used for constructing roads, driveway bases, parking lots, and other paved and unpaved surfaces. Intended to be compacted, hence the inclusion of fines within the material to provide support and be resistant to erosion and shifting.

Why Draper Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Draper is a growing community with a city population of 45,590 and a growth rate of 2.10% annually, creating steady demand for home improvements and new construction. The local climate—an average of 228/year sunny days, annual rainfall of 34.32 inches, and USDA hardiness zone 8b—supports year-round outdoor projects but also requires materials that handle both sun and seasonal runoff. As homes fill in and landscaping projects multiply, homeowners and contractors look for reliable aggregates that provide drainage, durability, and low maintenance. Gravel is a practical choice for driveways, walkways, patios, and erosion control because it balances permeability with load-bearing capacity and integrates well with Draper’s expanding residential and commercial development patterns. In Draper’s mix of sun and seasonal rain, gravel performs well by promoting quick drainage, stabilizing slopes, and reducing splash erosion on compacted soils. Regional sourcing means the color and texture will reflect local geology, which helps blends with neighborhood aesthetics. Hello Gravel connects Draper homeowners with trusted local suppliers and professional dump-truck delivery, offering clear pricing, scheduled delivery windows, and a minimum order of 3 tons—making it easy to get the right gravel for driveway bases, French drains, or decorative beds without the hassle of sourcing and hauling yourself.Popular Projects in Draper This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Draper gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Draper.
For Draper, crushed stone (3/4" or 1") and decomposed granite are popular because they shed water and compact well on sloped yards. Pea gravel looks nice in decorative beds but can migrate on hills and is harder to compact for driveways. River rock is attractive for dry streambeds but can shift during heavy runoff; choose material based on slope and drainage needs.
Crushed gravel and decomposed granite compact into a firmer surface suitable for driveways and high-traffic paths; crushed stone locks together better than round pea gravel. Pea gravel is better for decorative areas and informal walkways but will move under vehicle traffic. Decomposed granite gives a compact, natural-looking walking surface but may need stabilizer in wetter spots.
A common driveway (10 ft by 50 ft) at a 3-inch depth needs about 3 cubic yards, which is roughly 4 to 4.5 tons depending on the rock. For 4-inch depth you would need about 4 cubic yards (roughly 5 to 5.5 tons). Use our online calculator or estimate 1 cubic yard equals about 1.3 tons for most gravels, then add 10-15% for compaction and settlement.
Hello Gravel prices and minimums are listed by the ton, with a 3-ton minimum order. Homeowners often calculate needed volume in cubic yards, then convert using about 1.3 tons per cubic yard for typical crushed stone. If you prefer, use our material calculator or contact our team for a quick conversion and recommended allowance for compaction.
Standard delivery is typically 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST with an extra fee. Deliveries are made by contracted dump trucks (often tri-axle); tell us delivery location and any access constraints so drivers can safely place the load. Optional tailgate spreading can be requested at checkout but is performed at the driver's discretion and is not guaranteed.
Gravel costs vary by material type, quantity, and local supply; expect regional pricing differences in West Utah. Hello Gravel shows clear, up-front pricing in checkout once you enter your zip code and material choice; fees for next-day delivery or spreading are shown separately. Contact our sales team for a specific quote and volume discounts for larger jobs.
Because Hello Gravel sources materials regionally, color and texture will reflect local geology and may differ from photos. Draper's West Utah materials often include tan, brown, and rust tones from local rock. If color is important, note your preference in Order Notes or contact our team for guidance, but exact matches cannot be guaranteed.
Clear vegetation, mark utilities and desired edges, and ensure trucks can safely approach and turn around; disclose any low-clearance wires or soft ground to our team. Install edging or geotextile fabric if you want better containment and weed control. If you need spreading, request tailgate spreading at checkout and the driver will assess on arrival whether it can be done safely.
Gravel drains well during Draper's variable weather, reducing puddles compared with compacted soil, but steep slopes can move material during heavy runoff. Freeze-thaw cycles can loosen unbound gravel; adding fines or using decomposed granite can reduce movement. For areas that see snowplowing, use larger crushed stone (3/4" or larger) to avoid material being carried away by plows.
Install a weed barrier fabric before placing gravel, and add a 2-3 inch layer of gravel for decorative beds or 3-4 inches for walkways and paths. Periodic raking, spot-adding gravel, and using weed killer or manual removal keep beds tidy. For long-term low maintenance, consider edging and heavier crushed stone that compacts well to reduce migration and weed growth.
You can snowplow gravel, but plows can carry or dig out loose material; using larger, angular crushed stone and compacting it helps reduce loss. For frequent heavy loads or equipment, build a thicker base and use larger aggregate at the base layer to improve stability. Expect some movement and top-up needs over time; plan to inspect and add material seasonally if equipment or plows are used often.
Draper and West Utah terrain can concentrate storm runoff; slope and drainage must direct water away from foundations and into approved drainage paths. Gravel helps infiltration but do not place material where it will create nuisance runoff onto neighbors or public rights-of-way. If your project affects stormwater flow, check local city codes or consult with a local contractor to ensure compliance.
Contact Hello Gravel as soon as possible; modifications are easiest before the order is dispatched to the supplier and truck. Our team will do its best to accommodate requests—call or text our sales team for the fastest help.
Local contractors often order by the truckload (tons) and set recurring deliveries with suppliers to get better unit pricing. Buying larger volumes reduces per-ton delivery costs; ask Hello Gravel about volume pricing and scheduling for repeat deliveries. Also consider coordinating multiple nearby jobs to the same delivery date to split transport costs if allowed.
