Why Power Ranch Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Power Ranch is a growing community of 30,000 residents in the Arizona region, experiencing steady development with a 2.17% annual growth rate. Local homeowners and contractors are responding to ongoing building and landscaping demand driven by a sunny climate (228/year sunny days), an average of 33.20 inches of rain per year, and the region's hardiness zone of 8b. Those conditions create frequent needs for earthmoving: raising low spots, preparing pads for sheds and patios, improving drainage, and building planter berms. Homeowners seek clean, well-graded fill-dirt that compacts predictably and contains minimal organic matter to avoid future settling; contractors need consistent supply and scheduled delivery across a metro serving 2.5+ million residents. Because soils reflect the area's geology, choosing the right fill-dirt up front reduces rework and keeps projects on time and on budget. In Power Ranch's sun‑soaked, seasonally wet environment, fill-dirt should be screened, low in organics, and compactable to resist erosion and settlement after storms. Hello Gravel connects you with local suppliers who source regionally appropriate fill-dirt and coordinates delivery by professional dump trucks, so you get the right material when you need it. We make ordering simple—calculate quantities, pick a delivery date (standard 2+ business days, with faster options available), and add placement notes so drivers can follow your preferences. Our team can also help size orders to avoid overbuying while ensuring your yard and hardscapes have a stable base.Popular Projects in Power Ranch This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Power Ranch Fill Dirt Delivery
Everything you need to know about fill dirt delivery in Power Ranch.
Prices vary by supplier, season, and moisture content. Hello Gravel lists local per-ton pricing during checkout (minimum order 3 tons) and charges depend on weight rather than a fixed 'load' size; a full tri-axle truck in the Phoenix/Power Ranch area typically carries about 10-12 cubic yards (roughly 13-16 tons depending on moisture and compaction). Use our material calculator or get a quote to see exact cost for the tonnage you need.
Generally yes — basic fill-dirt is one of the least expensive bulk materials because it is unprocessed soil used for grading and raising elevations. Decorative gravels and crushed rock are processed, washed, and sized, so they usually cost more per ton and per square foot. Local pricing can vary, so compare per-ton or per-cubic-yard prices in checkout for a direct comparison.
Truck capacity depends on the vehicle and material density; in the Power Ranch area a tri-axle dump often holds about 10-12 cubic yards, which translates to roughly 13-16 tons for typical fill-dirt. For ordering we recommend working in tons (our checkout uses tons) and contacting our team if you need a specific truck-size estimate or multiple truck deliveries. Remember moisture and compaction change weight, so ton estimates are approximate.
That depends on the driveway width and desired depth. For a 20 ft long by 10 ft wide driveway at 4 inches deep you need about 2.47 cubic yards (about 3.2 tons using a 1.3 tons/yd3 estimate). If your driveway is wider or you need more build-up, recalculate using length x width x depth then convert to cubic yards and to tons, or use our calculator for an exact quote.
Coverage depends on depth. At 1 inch depth 1,000 sq ft needs about 3.09 cubic yards (about 4.0 tons); at 2 inches it needs about 6.17 cubic yards (about 8.0 tons); at 4 inches it needs about 12.35 cubic yards (about 16.0 tons). These use a conversion of roughly 1.3 tons per cubic yard — actual weight varies with moisture and compaction, so treat these as estimates.
Yes for small grade adjustments and to raise low spots, but do not use raw fill-dirt as the final top layer if you plan to grow grass or plants — add 4-6 inches of quality topsoil over compacted fill for planting. Properly place fill in 6-8 inch lifts and compact each lift to avoid future settling; larger regrades or structural changes may require a geotechnical recommendation. Also consider drainage in the desert climate and avoid creating low spots that hold water.
No — compacted fill-dirt alone is not a substitute for concrete for structural or load-bearing surfaces. For simple, low-cost bases you can use compacted crusher fines or crushed rock over a geotextile, but sheds, patios, and driveways typically need engineered bases or concrete per local code. If you are considering a nonstructural low-cost option in Power Ranch, ask our team for material suggestions and check local building department requirements.
Yes — fill used next to foundations, under slabs, or in utility trenches often must meet compacted fill specifications or be engineered; standard fill-dirt we deliver is suitable for general grading and landscaping but may not meet structural requirements. For foundation work get a geotechnical or structural recommendation and tell us at ordering so we can connect you to suppliers who provide engineered or compactable fill. We also recommend notifying your contractor and local permitting authority before placing fill near structures.
