Why Three Points Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Three Points (city population: 7,000) is part of a fast-growing Arizona region with steady development pressure—the area posts a growth rate: 2.17% annually and draws on a metro area population: 2.5+ million for broader demand. Local climate matters: sunny days: 228/year, annual rainfall: 33.20 inches, and a hardiness zone: 8b shape landscaping and construction choices. Homeowners and contractors here routinely need reliable material for grading, foundation backfill, and driveway sub-bases as lots are regraded or new builds proceed. That steady growth and sunny, semi-arid climate make durable, well-compacted aggregates a priority to prevent erosion, settling, and drainage problems. Fill-dirt is a practical, cost-effective choice for many Three Points projects because it provides compactable mass to raise grades, support slabs, and fill trenches without the organic content of topsoil that can decompose and settle. In a climate with seasonal rains and high sun exposure, properly compacted fill-dirt reduces erosion and maintains stable grades for hardscapes and foundations. Hello Gravel connects you with local suppliers and haulers who source regionally appropriate fill-dirt, shows transparent pricing, and schedules delivery so your project gets the right material when you need it.Popular Projects in Three Points This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Three Points Fill Dirt Delivery
Everything you need to know about fill dirt delivery in Three Points.
Delivered price for fill-dirt in the Three Points area varies by supplier, haul distance, and quantity, but you can generally expect a rough range of $12 to $30 per ton (about $9 to $22 per cubic yard). Larger orders and nearby suppliers push prices toward the low end; remote deliveries or small orders raise costs. For an exact quote for your address, check your zip code on our site or contact our team.
Some local suppliers and haulers serving the Three Points area may offer same-day delivery when trucks are available, but availability is limited and fees are likely. Hello Gravel’s minimum order is 3 tons; most suppliers prefer larger loads for efficiency. For faster delivery, choose next-day at checkout (orders placed before noon CST) or call our team to check local truck availability.
Fill-dirt can be used to build up or level a driveway base, but it is not the ideal load-bearing layer in Arizona’s hot, dry, and often rocky soils. For a durable driveway, contractors usually install a compacted road base or crusher-run below the surface and reserve fill-dirt for grade-building or leveling. If you plan to use fill-dirt, compact it properly and top with a more stable aggregate to reduce rutting and erosion.
To raise a 1/4-acre (10,890 sq ft) by 6 inches (0.5 ft) you need about 202 cubic yards of material, which is roughly 230 to 290 tons depending on moisture and compaction (we use about 1.1 to 1.4 tons per cubic yard range for regional fill-dirt). Put another way, plan on about 200–210 cubic yards and ask suppliers for a tonnage estimate based on local material density. Because Hello Gravel has a 3-ton minimum, large jobs like this will require multiple truckloads and a confirmed delivery schedule.
Local contractors typically compact fill-dirt in 6-inch to 8-inch lifts and use a plate compactor or small vibratory roller for small jobs, and a ride-on vibratory roller or sheepsfoot for larger areas. Moisture conditioning before compaction helps reach good density; contractors often aim for uniform compaction to reduce future settling. For unstable soils, they may add geotextile fabric or a layer of compactible base material before or after the fill to improve stability.
Fill-dirt is usually less expensive per ton than crusher-run or engineered road base, but it is also less durable and more prone to erosion and rutting under traffic. Crusher-run and road base compact better, shed water, and provide a longer-lasting base for driveways, so they tend to be a better long-term value for drive surfaces. Many Three Points property owners use fill-dirt for grading and raising low spots, then install a compacted road base for the driving surface.
Three Points is in unincorporated Pima County, so county building and grading rules apply; some neighborhoods may also have private HOA or ranch covenants with their own standards. There are no universal bans on using fill-dirt, but permits may be required for significant grading, drainage changes, or construction. Check with Pima County Planning and Development or your HOA before importing large volumes of fill-dirt to make sure you meet local rules.
Areas finished with fill-dirt will need periodic maintenance because Arizona’s monsoon rains and dry conditions can cause erosion and settling; expect to inspect after heavy rains and regrade or add material as needed, often once a year or every few years. Compacting at installation, adding surface rock, or installing erosion control (swales, vegetation) reduces how often you’ll need repairs. For driveways, topping with crushed stone or road base will lower maintenance needs significantly.
Yes, many local contractors and haulers who work in Three Points offer grading, finish grading, and erosion-control services alongside material deliveries, especially for sloped lots. You can request tailgate spreading at checkout, but drivers perform spreading at their discretion; for reliable grading and erosion control, ask for a contractor quote that includes equipment like graders, skid steers, or excavators. Hello Gravel can connect you with local suppliers and contractors who provide combined delivery and grading services.
Fill-dirt can help raise low spots and regrade yard slopes to move water away from structures, but it is not a standalone solution for significant drainage or flood issues. For reliable drainage control, contractors often recommend combining fill-dirt with engineered solutions like swales, rock-lined channels, French drains, or compacted free-draining base material. If you have recurring flooding or standing water, consult a local contractor or civil engineer to design a drainage plan before ordering large amounts of fill-dirt.
